Next Level Jobs

Next Level Jobs provides free training for Hoosiers and reimbursements for Indiana employers for training employees in high-demand fields. Next Level Jobs is part of Governor Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Indiana agenda to continue the positive momentum of our state. Under his leadership, with support from the General Assembly, Indiana is taking the state’s workforce to the next level with a focus on the high-priority industries and in-demand, high-paying jobs driving Indiana’s 21st Century economy forward.

Eastern Indiana Works

Eastern Indiana Works is a 501(c)(3) that convenes Regional Private/Public sector Workforce Development partners to provide strategic leadership, oversight and content delivery to Economic Growth Region 6 (EGR6).  In accordance with a contractual agreement with the EGR6 Local Elected Officials Executive Council, the ASG, Inc. Board of Directors also serves as the Eastern Indiana Workforce Investment Board and works closely with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development to deliver exceptional WorkOne services to the citizens of Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne counties.

Workforce Programs

In East Central Indiana, the cultivation of a vibrant, sustainable, demand-driven workforce is a top priority. To achieve this goal, East Central Indiana has launched several initiatives that meet existing and future workforce demands:

  • ACT Certified Work Ready Communities (CWRC): ACT CWRC empowers counties and states with process, data and tools deployed in a common workforce development framework to drive economic growth by certifying counties as work ready communities when established goals are attained.  In Indiana, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Randolph, Rush and Wayne Counties are taking part in a county-level pilot to directly engage with the ACT CWRC effort. East Central Indiana counties are leading the ACT CWRC initiative in Indiana.
  • Manufacturing Matters (MM): The MM job training initiative is designed by regional employers to increase the technical and soft skills of the regional workforce by equipping participants with the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) credential.  The CPT is a nationally recognized, portable credential in manufacturing. Training includes 8-10 weeks of instruction that integrates classroom learning with hands-on/simulated training modules.  The CPT represents knowledge in four key areas of manufacturing: Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Processes and Maintenance Awareness, and includes critical thinking, problem solving and team work. The technical training is provided through Ivy Tech Community College and the soft skills training is provided by Eastern Indiana WorkOne. Completion of MM also provides participants with six academic credits at Ivy Tech Community College, as well as access to job opportunities with participating employers.
  • Regional Advanced Manufacturing Program (RAMP): RAMP is a highly collaborative partnership between Local Elected Officials, Advanced Manufacturing Employers, East Central Indiana WorkOne and Higher Education that is designed to meet the entry-level hiring needs in Advanced Manufacturing.  The RAMP training is completed in 128 hours over 4 weeks and includes: Safety, Blue Print Reading, CNC Concepts, Production Process – Lean and 5S, Quality Principles, Teamwork, Communication, Problem Solving, Career Pathways, and Plant Tours.  Completion of RAMP provided participants with an OSHA Safety Card as well as access to job opportunities with participating employers.
  • Hire Technology:  Blackford County recently implemented Conexus Indiana’s Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics (AML) Curriculum Development Program, Hire Technology, that addresses the changing AML workforce landscape by creating a high school level curriculum for “middle skill workers.” The program, rolled out in coordination with the Indiana Department of Education and Ivy Tech Community College, enables current students to complete industry-recognized certificates and earn dual credit, all while preparing for post-secondary programs and careers in AML. Hire Technology is a two-year turn-key Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics program delivered through Indiana high schools and career centers. The program facilitates student achievement by including contextualized math and science concepts to reinforce key academic STEM concepts while promoting the development of the applied problem-solving skills demanded by AML industry members.
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) Centers: East Central Indiana High School Students can choose from multiple dual-credit career preparation programs at the Anderson, Pendleton, HindsNew CastleMuncieConnersvilleRichmondMarion and Bluffton (serves Blackford and Jay County) Career Centers.  Regardless of your workforce needs, East Central Indiana is preparing the next generation for your company.  Course offerings include but are not limited to:

  • Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG): East Central Indiana is a State leader in JAG, operating in nine schools region-wide.  JAG is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to preventing dropouts among young people who are most at-risk.  In more than three decades of operation, JAG has delivered consistent, compelling results – helping nearly three-quarters of a million young people stay in school through graduation, pursue postsecondary education and secure quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities.
  • Grant’s Got TalentAn initiative derived from a group of regional manufacturers and community leaders in Grant County who came together to brainstorm and discover the best approach to addressing the skills gap for manufacturers in East-Central Indiana.  The program is designed to increase the employability of residents and provide local manufacturers with an employment pool of candidates that will help to increase profitability and decrease turnover. Qualified candidates are WorkKeys tested, drug tested and interviewed by WorkOne; trained by Ivy Tech Corporate College to receive a nationally recognized Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification. Upon completion, the candidate will be introduced to partner employers in the manufacturing sector that see great value in the CPT credential and move those candidates to the top of the hiring pool.
  • Purdue Polytechnic Institute Makerspace/Flagship Innovation HubThe Purdue Polytechnic Institute Makerspace/Flagship Innovation Hub is a collaborative partnership for sparking ideas, developing new products, building businesses, and growing jobs.  The Makerspace offers affordable and accessible space, software, and equipment for students, entrepreneurs, and existing businesses, for hands-on learning, idea testing and tinkering, and prototyping.  The Flagship Innovation Hub offers affordable industrial incubation space for businesses created by students and other area entrepreneurs.
  • UpSkill Forward: Indiana Wesleyan University has partnered with Upskill Forward – a program that gives millions of workers access to affordable online simulation lessons aligned with real jobs. The high-resolution, low-cost programs help workers and job seekers develop relevant, essential skills for various industries by giving credentials in demand.
